Emerging from an incongruous Belfast music scene, Girls Names formed in January 2009 as a two-piece, Cathal Cully and Neil Brogan with their first gig booked before they had even played together.

On past tuesday August 30th, neo-psychedelic rockers Brian Jonestown Massacre held 19 wonderful, wacky years with The Singles Collection (1992-2011), a collection of tracks only previously available as 7″ singles via A Records.
We all know the Fuzztones are popular the world over, they have been ploughing on fields of 60s-styled garage punk since the early eighties, but they’re also popular across many genres, as demonstrated on this tribute in form of a compilation by a lot of the freakbeat, psychedelia and caveman-stomp garage bands.

Dang, can you believe how fast the time flies? It seems like only yesterday that we were launching the career of beloved Austin-based rockers The Black Angels and their self described “Electrified Native American Drone ‘n’ Roll.”
KEXP has been championing The Black Angels for so long, they think of them as family. In fact, when we visit the KEXP offices, we’re greeted by an enormous mounted steer skull that the Austin, Texas, band autographed and shipped to KEXP.
