Let’s party! That’s right, wearethelastbeatniks turned up six years until now, If you’ve been following this site for any amount of time, you’re probably aware of my perhaps unhealthy obsession with psych vibes here embodied , where It’s not about taking anything away from the artists themselves, hoping, whenever possible, that you are encouraged to buy physical or digital copies of releases you enjoyed, ’cause this blog is meant to support those bands and labels, not circumvent them. Thanks to everybody who stops by regularly, to everybody who stops by occasionally, to everybody who downloads something out of pure curiosity, and to everybody who leaves comments and support the bands.
Sorry for the delays on the posts, and to a bunch of artist which send their works for a review, but remember that this is a labor of love, and this has been around long enough that I am starting to forget what has been posted and what hasn’t. Anyway, the 2,000 mark is just around the corner. Keep on the trip…

Well, now, if you’re one of the few new or weird beatniks who hasn’t heard of Matthew Melton yet, then I would probably advise to you that consider giving up on life entirely.
I’ve written up about his before , and if he keep churning out these psych pop ready tunes, I’ll be writing about them again, and again, and again.
Matthew Melton is so prolific as endlessly creative so he is a pretty busy guy. He runs his own label Fuzz City, he’s member of bands like PLEASERS, SNAKE FLOWERS 2 and BARE WIRES( part from whose excellent discography was posted here on early years ), and he has a crazy solo project . His latest 7′ with Pleasers was recently released by Southpaw Records, but he’s also dropped records for Castle Face, Red Lounge and Tic Tac Totally! Records. Yeah, told you he was busy.
Anyways, Pleasers is a logical progression of his sound if you’ve been listening up until now. They are still simple lo-fi sunny jams noticeably welcomed this time around to crush the cold on this world part. What I love most about Matthew Melton’s music is that it’s a simple pleasure. There is no deep introspection, no pretense, nothing to grab hold of other than the music itself. His tracks are all basically glammy-punk-psych-pop guitar ditties which with a knack like a weird revolving door make hearken back to the aesthetic of 60s advertisements. Let’s just say that they are the musical equivalent to the sort of stuff that teens back then were pasting on back of their bedroom door . And there is something almost beautiful about that.
