Do I need to tell you that you need this? If this time I can’t get melt your brain blood then perhaps you should have checks your heart : a blistering twelve releases whirlwind of Swedish psychedelic rammed onto an only post.
Trad Gras Och Stenar were something like Switzerland’s answer to krautrock/Psychedelic boom of the late 60s and early 70s. They played weirdo, organ-heavy, psych, hung out from from earliest International Harvester/ Harvester teams, with which released some pretty stellar albums before the members started on to pursue this main project. They are a staple in the Swedish underground-psych scene, if there even is such a thing. The band’s beginnings date back as far as 1967 under Parson Sound name, and more of ten albums have since been released, all was recorded until 1972, and was released on the band’s own label, and now the good folks at Anthology Recordings saved from obscurity three of their essential albums.
There is a basement charm to these albums that reminds me a bit of some of the kraut treasures featured on my records collection, recordings are stark, honest, and totally mesmerizing, without words that can accurately describe this outfit and the sounds that they present and represent, psychedelic outsider ambiance with an ear to other worlds both metaphysical like geographical…. and I don’t really imagine to being able to convince you with descriptions, but those who take the plunge will be rewarded with a magic journey to a very strange place . Track 1-2 recorded by the Swedish Radio 1967.09.26 for broadcast on “Den tänkande mikrofonen” (The thinking microphone) produced by Britt Edwall. Original broadcast made 1967.09.27.
Track 1-3 recorded at the Modern Museum of Art in Stockholm 1968.03.01 during the Bombay Free School happening “An Event on Earth – with Moon attached happenings”.
Track 1-4 recorded at the Modern Museum of Art in Stockholm 1968.02.25 during Andy Warhol’s “Screens, Films, Boxes, Clouds and a Book” exhibition.
Track 1-5 is a rehearsal for BoAnders Persson’s participation at the annual “UNM/Ung Nordisk Musikk” (Young Nordic Music) festival held in Copenhagen 1966.
Track 1-6 recorded at “Stockholm Experiment Festival” 1967.07.19 at the restaurant Sju sekel (Seven centuries) in Kungsträdgården.
Track 2-1 recorded by the Swedish Radio 1967.12.21/22 for broadcast on “Nattstudio” (Nightstudio) produced by Folke Rabe. Original broadcast made 1968.01.04. Part 3 has previously been released as another recording on Love Records as LRLP 6: International Harvester – “Sov Gott Rose-Marie”.
Track 2-2 is an outdoors recording made at the school of Skrubba east of Stockholm in May 1968.
Track 2-3 is a rehearsal at Fabriken in May 1968. Originally intended as music for a friend’s exhibition in Italy.
Track 2-4 is a jam from the summer of 1968 made in the park of Vita Bergen (The White Mountains) in Stockholm.
Track 2-5 recorded in August 1968 during the “Sov Gott Rose-Marie” (Sleep Well Rose-Marie) sessions made at Nacka Aula.

All titles published through Gåshud Music. (Tio minuter and Sov gott Rose-marie used under license from Swedish radio).

Part 3 of Sov gott Rose-marie has previously been released as another recording on Love Records as LRLP-6 International Harvester “Sov gott Rose-marie”.

Tracks 1 to 13 were originally released as the LP Sov Gott Rose-Marie in the Spring of 1968 [There is a typo in the CD booklet stating this album was released in 1969, it was actually released late 1968] by Love Records (Finland).

Track 14 is a previously unreleased bonus track.

The first eleven tracks and bonus track 14 are recorded on August 10-12th 1968 in Nacka Aula, Stockholm, directly on two channels with natural acoustics. The effects are made afterwards.

Tracks 12 and 13 are recorded by International Harvester; “I Mourn You” from “International Havester Good Luck Show” at Pistolteatern (Stockholm) in September 23rd 1968 with an old Revox, “How To Survive” is recorded in Vitabergsparken, Stockholm, sometime in 1968 with a Nagra tape recorder.

“Harvest Times” was first meant to be on the B-side of the original release, but the group finally decided otherwise.

Disc features red-printed birds; a variant exists with blue-printed birds.

All recordings are remastered at Silence Studio in 2001.
