If you are familiar with either of these four insanely talented south africans guys, or any of their other projects, then you will know that you are in for quite an amazing treat with this this new collaboration band/LP.
Long time psych-garage-charmers Future Primitives guitar/frontman Johnny Tex, provides the better portion of the music on this record, conjuring up his somewhat patent pop-soaked-psych washes, and more than a few layers of lo-fi bumps, claps, and poppy shake surf to keep you swaying along to.
Sometimes a solid and rather grunge bass line will sneak it’s way in, providing a bit of swagger beneath the garage surface.
A little amount of this is somewhat comparable to Johnny-Warren recent punk/lo-fi rockabilly project, The Dyna Jets, that which me lead to share this another product favorite of mine. There, while Johnny contributes his woozy, rockabilly/garage inspired embers, Warren tosses his punk inspired hits onto the fire and really sets this ablaze and their soaring vibes immediately find it’s way into Johnny’s chanted howl.
I think both will create vast, vibrant movements that spiral upward from your feet, taking some unexpected twists and turns, sync up in such perfect harmony that it will send chills up your spine.
An nearly perfect blend of bright, garage flashes punk and surf, incredibly fresh hymns.
