Russian isn’t exactly the first place you think of when it comes to psychedelic garage, but the country has become a fertile breeding ground for bands of all sorts and happens to have some of the weirdest 60´s revival vibes ever to poison my ears.
Mystic Brew is totally authentic retro ’60s garage psych mock up done by five clever lads from Samara, where all the tones and performances are perfect, and if you didn’t know better you’d think it is a genuine end 60`s article, so is no secret that were influenced by this era.
Yes, sometimes I think why I bother trying to come up with words for these bands describe, when I know you come here for raw, trippy , blown out blasts of psychedelia influenced by 60´s bands from US who a lot were in turn usually influenced by 60´s bands from UK…well, That’s what Mystic Brew do, and they are very fuckn´ good at it.

MYSTIC BREW – Your Reality 7′

These young Garage newcomers were infected with 60’s sound in their teenage years already and ever since have been following the sound of bands like THE SEEDS, THE THIRTEENTH FLOOR ELEVATORS, THE MUSIC MACHINE, THE VELVET UNDERGROUND and also the 80’s Garage revival sound with a passion. After having played in previous bands together (including THE BLUEBIRDS) MYSTIC BREW now release their very first 7” on SOUNDFLAT RECORDS in the stylish Soundflat Records factory sleeve.

Both songs of the single were recorded with vintage equipment only, which is clearly audible in their authentic sound. The A-side ‘Your Reality’ is a dreamy, harmonic and emotional song with psychedelic elements. The groovy guitar solo and vermona organ catch you in the cool mood of the track right away. The B-side ‘Don’t Cry No More’ is an uptempo-song with a catchy organ while the vintage delay on the backing vocals adds a psychedelic touch to it.

Your Reality’ by MYSTIC BREW is perfect for fans of Popsike/Psych-bands like THE TEMPLES and JACCO GARDNER as well as 60’s Garage-revival-bands like THE FROWNING CLOUDS and THE HIGH LEARYS. Until now they were merely an insider’s tip in the 60’s scene, but as of now they are bound to conquer Russia and the rest of the world!
