I´m sure any of wearethelastbeatniks loyal readers already known this band, so maybe I shouldn’t be writing all this. On the other hand, you know that Luke Dead is a Madison´s fellow making some of chillest psychedelia I’ve heard on last years, so when I found on my mail box with some requests for re upload his material, sparked I´ll do it , although not have much time to write , but this game of writing reviews from music I like is so nice.
If you’re from Madison, Wisconsin, you know that Dead Luke haunted the scene for the past few years with their performing of lo-fi mess of power pop , noise garage and psych rock
He used to play in a band called The Dead Hookers, but they broke up and he has gone solo. He also takes part in Absinthe Minds , Zola Jesus ( I’ll take care of those in a separate post) , and formed beside Max and Ben an rockabilly band The Lonesome Savage .
This guy’s scope is pretty vast, all their excursions were corralled on three tapes and two LPs among 2008 – 2011 , discordant listening experiences, passing from some tracks retro synth go into reverb drenched in psychedelic haze unto currently with an excellent follow up to last years efforts, creating a entirely different beast with a new direction and a refreshing blend of psych-rock with bluesy intentions.
Well, now I hope you get ready to initiate divine transmutation to new ritual known as The Non Travellin´Band , from which If you haven’t heard, is held by the three minds of Lue, Brother Joseph and Dead Luke, and their songs consist of stomping drums, ragged vocals, fuzzed-out grooves and explosive solos. They released on last May 20 their cassette Never Prayed Once, out through Moon Glyph Records.
I ordered it , it’s only a matter of time until I´ll can share it , although you know , I live in Argentina and things are tough here for imported products, my last purchase took about three months to get here, so I hope someone decides to share it on the web early to I can listen it full . Anyway below I leave a sampler of five tracks I rip from Soundcloud.
