I’ve gotten a chance today to finally write up something I come listening since it came out last month, so let´s start again with a nice new surprise from Russia ; which although is just one song , in a way is enough to make a review , since it has a duration of 20 min. practically an EP.
The song in question is ‘To Whom It May Concern’, The Grand Astoria’s latest offering. and their compelling mixture of psych-rock-stoner vibes, which you’ll have to either buy it directly off of the band’s Bandcamp page or else wait to get a physical copy of their Split EP (with US Christmas) next 25 this month..
I already posted about them, so you sure know that these Russian dudes have been busy last years delivering to us only good stuff on previous releases in one psychedelic, groovy, weird, spaced-out original package. A constantly evolving sound that found it’s way.
When I dug up about them what I could , I found the members mention Hawkwind,MC5,Iron Maiden,Mudhoney, Megadeth, Faith No More and
Jimi Hendrix among their major influences, I will like add to greats as Can, Neu!, Amon Düul in addition to good Floyd and Crimson
Not coming off overly heavy for my tastes is something remarkable for a band I’ve seen labeled only as stoner rock, which is not a single label I could choose to use ever. Like I said about them, when you listen to each record you never know what’s coming up next. .
If you have any interest in the band you should really check it out and if you just like the notion of the band from this description then you should consider checking it out and if you like it, trying the rest of their older releases as well, or not.
This is one of the things I love of writing a music blog, I can return to post up and submit music that think I’d otherwise be very unlikely to listen to, and you can be pleasantly surprised or ignore what I say .
