Transplantados desde Tucson, Arizona , asi se presentan la prueba viviente de que tambien en  Texas se bebe del  mejor agua con altas dosis de Garage Lo Fi  alegre y destartalado, cuidadosamente descuidado,sin tratar de ocultar sus claras influencias de los  60´s , como el que hacen los Harlem, tal es su nombre .
La ocasion del lanzamiento de un 7″ hace unas semanas, me da la oportunidad de compartir su corta pero contundente discografia, que consiste en Free Drugs de 2008, Hippies de 2009 y esta especie de Outtakes de Hippies, con dos muy buenos temas , espero les guste, saludos…

Ayer compartia la genialidad de Syd Barret en sus mejores momentos. Hoy tengo el gusto de compartir la creatividad de Emil Amos , presente en Survivalist Tales, ultimo trabajo de Holy Sons , noveno en la lista de produccion de este proyecto solista de quien tambien es baterista en las bandas Grails y Om , con  estilos totalmente diferentes.
Y es que la musica que logra  a traves de la  experimentacion  de sonidos, podria definirla como una mezcla discordante, calmante y totalmente encantadora de melodias, en la que la influencia de una banda en especial , Pink Floyd, esta omnipresente, y sobre todo la de la  epoca en que la psicodelia  inyectada por Barret dominaba la escena, in fluencia que un baterista con talento supo traducir en estas once nuevas canciones.  Es lo unico que puedo comentar de Survivalist Tales, despues, la musica habla por si sola, saludos…

Brooks Nielsen, Matt Taylor, Scott Montoya, Brian Stewart, Kyle Straka, Warren Thomas, Elvis, el Diablo, Elvira, Machiavellie, El Pollo Loco. Toda esta gente es la que figura en los creditos de esta banda llamada The Growlers , aunque en realidad los protagonistas  musicales son   el vocalista Brook Nielsen, el guitarrista Matt Taylor, el bajista Scott Montoya, el baterista Brian Stewart y el guitarrista y tecladista Kyle Straka . Se presentan como un grupo de Pop y Rock , aunque me parecen que son mucho mas que eso, la evolucion de su musica desde 2006, año en que se formo la banda, es realmente notable, solo basta escuchar sus ultimos dos discos para percibirlo. Es por eso que los comparto en este post con el bonus del acostumbrado performance en los Daytrotter Studios. Aqui van entonces Are You In Or Out?  de 2008 y  Hot Tropics de 2010 , con un particular estilo mezcla de Surf, Garage , Country,  Rock y Pop marcados por la reverberacion y el guiño psicodelico de los 60´s, lo que hace que no pueda reducirse solo a uno, espero que lo disfruten, saludos…

El pasado 17 de Abril, el Record Store Day  Brendan Benson , Patrick Keeler  de Raconteurs se unieron a  Mark Watrous y Andrew Higley para realizar  algunas canciones de los Raconteurs en Third Man Studio , como celebracion del re-lanzamiento del disco Broken Boy Soldiers, album debut de la banda en 2006, publicado esta vez en un  vinilo de 12¨ mitad negro y mitad azul a traves de Third Man Records . Fue el segundo lanzamiento de la serie Live At Third Man.Se lanzaron en la ocasion  300 copias selladas con etiquetas personalizadas con el nombre del comprador(son las que ves abajo) ,  el video es solo una muestra de 45 seg. pero suena bien , disfrutenlo, saludos…

El acostumbrado performance de buenas bandas en los estudios Daytrotter , el pasado miercoles le toco el turno a los australianos Tame Impala con buenas versiones de su psicodelico debut Innerspeaker .
Esta es la reseña de Sean Moeller en Daytrotter Site, impecable…
¨My father owned two motorcycles when we were growing up. They weren’t anything too special. They weren’t souped up or power machines, by any stretch of the imagination, but he would back them out of the barn every so often, gas them up and ask us if we wanted to go for a ride. We always did and that meant that we’d get an un-helmeted trip down the asphalt back roads to look at how the crops were growing, with our index fingers curled around a belt loop on each side of dad’s jeans. It was always fantastic weather when we’d do this and, really, it had to be, but it was almost as if the motorcycles brought out the pleasant conditions and the swelling, burnt out sunsets. A similar sensation tends to come over me when Tame Impala’s album, “Innerspeaker,” begins to play. It’s as if suddenly there is a day gone right staring you in the face and nothing else matters. “Innerspeaker” is a record that makes me want to go out and buy my own motorcycles, to take my own children on rides, to let the speed rip just enough that it feels abnormally fast for a change, with the noise from the machine’s roar blurring out anything else that might be happening in the ditches or in our heads. It’s as if Tame Impala has cornered a market for giving people the thrill of high speeds and beautifully scenic rides – their songs causing your head to fuzz out of balance and synchronize completely with what it might mean to experience perfect light and perfect air and perfect sound. The band from Perth, Australia, just makes you want to hop on your motor bike and try with all of your might to see if it’s possible to drive it straight up that leafy tree or that mountain over there, just for the thrill of it. It’s music – with its pitch and tone that reminds us of listening to old Beatles and Air records, simultaneously on separate turntables, in the heart of the autumn months. It reminds us of how a sunshine and water-grown golden crisp apple tastes as well as romantic scent of wood burning in the brisk twilight of days that are now growing shorter and less tolerable. It’s music that makes you feel that sensation of the wind bashing you against the pant legs and whistling over your chilled cheeks as you move swiftly down the road, with no glass or metal surrounding you and keeping you shielded. You feel as if you’re right out there in the elements and they’re doing everything right, they’re treating you well. ¨

Otro disco esperado por mucho tiempo, al menos por mi,  hablo del segundo trabajo de los Gay Blades  llamado Savages, gran sucesor del excelente Ghosts de 2008 . Se los presenta generalmente como un duo integrado por  Clark Westfield (voz, guitarra) y  Puppy Mills (bateria), pero como sabemos casi siempre hay alguien quien apuntala al duo, en este caso se trata de  Jeff Plate (bajo). La fusion de estilos  que realizan  trasciende cualquier genero en que se los encasille, ademas de la actitud de la banda que se filtra a traves de cada nota , y la presencia de expedientes de los 60´s -70´s a lo largo de todos sus temas ,  lo hace iresistiblemente atractivo . Si ya los conocias, suma otro buen disco de ellos a tu coleccion, y si no, es una muy buena forma de comenzar a escucharlos, y ya que estamos, comparto todo lo que tengo de ellos,  saludos…

29 de Noviembre es la fecha de lanzamiento del primer single de estos Vaccines que no tiene nada que ver con los de Seattle, que hacen un Punk mas puro. Estos ingleses hacen un muy atractivo Garage Pop con evidente influencia Punk que les valio figurar  entre las noticias de NME  ya que estan realizando una serie de presentaciones en Reino Unido , la ultima fue el pasado miercoles 7 en Flowerpot  con algunos problemas con las invitaciones, la proxima presentacion importante sera en el Cardiff  Swn  Festival el proximo 22 de Octubre, por ahora tenemos estos dos temas que dan forma a su primer single, y gracias a @ guest por recomendarlos…
