Sometimes the simplest things hit you at just the right time, and that’s exactly the case with Ocular Audio Experiment last release. So, I wasn’t able to write any , cause of migraine, I been sick for three weeks! How pathetic can one guy get? Whatever, when I am having a bad time, one of things that I look to make myself feel better is music. And Alex Pollock didn’t know it, but this was exactly what I needed to cheer me up.
If you love Ocular Audio Experiment as much as I do, this should be welcome news for you. Nine more of his blended psych influences …it doesn’t get much simpler but, when it blows it just blows , you know? Taking alot of different influences and trying to incorporate them all into your music can be a dangerous move. It’s easy to spread yourself to thin, making the music sound jumbled and messy. However, if you can pull it off it can be a thing of beauty, and Alex manages to do it flawlessly.
The songs meander into straight up psych territory in that energetic and unassuming manner and with looped guitars politely pounding out the hooks while the drums try to figure out the absolute simplest way on earth to keep a beat ….because he is doing everything he need to do.
I could keep rambling on about just how great this release is, but I’m just going to insist that you download it “name your price” and listen to it instead. Now go!
