Well team, this humble blogger had to take a hiatus from wearethelastbeatniks in order to save an eye after a fuckin´ mishap while I worked on my office. Plus got caught up with the celebrations and necessary family visitations that surrounded my birthday last week, plus a long drive to a postgraduate course from which I arrived this morning. So, after all this time only listening music without thinking about how to describe it up to make interesting, I guess I´m ready to write again, seem me weird , but… How everybody been in these…holy shit it’s been more of a week?!
Well, right before happened all I said , I saw a track posted on my inbox from a garage rock trio from Indonesia, they sounded pretty rad, so I asked them to send me their EP, the rest is history.
El Gringo are a total raging lo-fi garage psych crust assault from South Jakarta, Indonesia, with an emphasis on surf sound. I listened to this EP all the way through at least three times while I drove around the empty road last night, back to my city, it which should indicate that it’s really fucking good.
Their songs are instantly catchy, with guitar work varies in magic way Maybe it’s just me, but I’m a sucker for these cold blooded murder tunes. I’ve still heard these songs on my office today, which is a rarity these days, so I highly encourage you to sink yourself into this.
I think I’ll be obsessively checking on my inbox for El Gringo in hopes of more songs. It´s ambiguous,, indeed I not found almost nothing on internet from them . They are from Indonesia , their name is in spanish, sings in English, so the mystery is at once intriguing and maddening for someone who wants to know more about this lofi garage surf music goodness.
What I do know is I´ll be stoked to see more of this slinking surf rock….
