Hits Me Like I’m Stoned

This was definitely one heck of a nice surprise.. A few days ago, Dave friend asked me ,what was my take on these guys….. The Lucid Dream , that people was raving about them ….So, after reading a ton of hype around them for a few days on a lot of sites, I got their debut album from bandcamp, and I popped in a listen, and I listened this from front to back …three times in a row. I was tidying my records in my house, and then all I wanted do was tidy all listening to The Lucid Dream all night long,
I don’t know how i missed this one. ‘Songs of Lies and Deceit’ is the name of this thrilling debut full length from this band whose name couldn’t be more appropriate, their message is clear from the very first word to the very last.
.If you are familiar with this band’s unique style of avant-psych , then you have some idea as to what your in for, but not completely.
Since 2011’s wildly awesome Love In My Veins single, this Carlisle four piece has seriously upped their game, and it’s almost as if they’ve created a entirely new musical language through the use of their instruments, making the listen an Experience quite magical, leading to believe that there’s a direct link between each of their brains . Everything is in it’s place, and yet feels completely displaced and estranged.
Mark Emmerson and Wayne Jefferson provide air-tight and incomparable guitar attack, weaving in and out of each other’s notes, creating rich textures.
Fans of Spacemen 3 will definitely find something to obsess over in their unique style, which somehow sounds similar.
Their voices’s acrobatics wild, have become like their trademark to me . The standout track for me is “Heading For The Waves “, it’s pretty straight forward as far as rhythm and timing go, but it makes several wild turns along the way, running through a handful of different modes and key changes.
This album is full of this kind of unexpected goodness, and that’s a lot.
