While i’m still listening about Wildwood psych vibes , by a girl friend´s request i’ll repost this post I wrote awhile back , I think won’t hurt:
Well, I do not think that I was discovering for you anything, I would back can talk about San Francisco, psychedelia, 60-70 `s garage, Black Angels, Moon Duo, Syd Barret, all a weird mix, or not, but all with someone in common, Ripley Johnson .
Wooden Shjips comes to me in 2007 through a psych compilation edited by Mojo as a Syd Barrett tribute called In Search of Syd, themed SOL 07.
Born in the basic idea of rock and roll played by non-musicians, gestated in the mind of Ripley Johnson, taking their name almost as the title from a Jefferson Airplane song, which although seems with a typo , is simply a kind of nod to Swedish psychedelia, with the fuzzed out guitar, followed by reverb-soaked vocals.of Ripley without afraid to sail out into a psych rock squall of drum-bass-keyboard under driving by Omar Ahsanuddin, Dusty Jermier y Nash Whalen
Prior to 2006, when Ripley Johnson assembled the current line-up , Wooden Shjips was simply an experiment in primitive and minimalist rock.
Now you can read about their sound as psychedelia, droner, krautrock, garage, asociated to The Doors, Can, Grateful Dead, 13th Floor Elevator, I could add a dose of VU and Amon Dull in there too, and you got below, most of stuff of theirs I’ve heard, it´s just how I like it to sound psych rock, enjoy it …
