Oceania is the new album by The Smashing Pumpkins, out tomorrow June 19 via Martha’s Music/EMI Label Services/Caroline Distribution. The hauntingly beautiful album cover image was photographed by Richard Shay, son of Chicago legend Art Shay.
Though the record stands on its own, it was created as part of the band’s ongoing 44-song work-in-progress Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, which has been released song-by-song since the end of 2009.
It’s been so long since Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan delivered a great album blending the heavy guitars with dreamy melodies , although drip tracks through the Teargarden by Kaleidyscope project is still a disjointed way of releasing good new sounds , so a lot of good stuff has come out of there, it was tempting to listen crafting Oceania as an album in the middle of it .
For those who know it , I think you may end being very surprised, because I am. You will can .see that is a good return to the roots and a relief to re listen Corgan`s frantic way included in several tracks.
Old Pumpkin`s sound has returned. Welcome back, Billy…
