Record Store Day Download: Molly’s Lips FREE

Being in a band means a lot of travel. There are parts that you don’t look forward to: cramming as much equipment as possible into your tiny car, fast-food stops that do a total number on your stomach, an inevitable flight of stairs at the venue which you have to haul your way-bigger-than-necessary amplifier up and down etc; but it’s not all bad. In fact, one of the best parts about traveling with a band is the music that you get to listen to and share with each other on the way to and from the gig. During the drives for Twin Berlin’s spring shows over the past few months we’ve been listening to a ton of Nirvana, especially In Utero and Incesticide, commenting about everything from the major to minor melody change in the chorus of “Dumb” to that perfect three-note guitar riff in “Milk It”. When we decided to get together to record a cover song for Record Store Day it happened to be the anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death, so it only seemed natural that we choose to do a Nirvana song. While “Molly’s Lips” wasn’t written by Nirvana (the original is by The Vaselines) we did pay tribute to the way that they approached the song, which happens to be what we value as a band ourselves: loud distorted guitars, raspy vocals, and drums that are hit as hard as possible. To put our own spin on things we included an interlude that touches on Nirvana’s other Vaseline’s cover (“Son of A Gun”) and the Incesticide classic “Aneurysm”. Doing this little tribute to one of our favorite bands was a lot of fun and we hope that you enjoy listening to it… as there will soon be more coming your way!

If you haven’t heard of Twin Berlin , it’s time you, reader, took a listen.

From Boston, Massachusetts, this four pieces of excellent musicians have been putting out some serious garage rock on last three years that was a definite compared with The Strokes-like quality to their sound.

Twin Berlin was formed when Matt Lopez , with a bunch of songs , wanted to get a band going to begin playing out. So met Matt Nelson (lead guitar) through a mutual friend in their town and together set out to find the other members. Nate Marsden at listened the tracks and joined right away. All they needed was the drummer, which appeared in a couple months, when Matt L. met James at a bar in Boston.

Steadfast in their mission to bring back rock ‘n’ roll good times steeped in 90′s nostalgic at NIrvana´s age , but with garage-punk riffs progressive style that take their sound to a whole new level .

They currently have a new EP produced by Travis Barker ( Blink-182 guitar ) .which follows up at a four song EP and two songs Single, releases among 2009-2010
