I knowed was only a matter of time until I got to posting The Growlers discs again , when i found with some releases which i never had the pleasure of listening, and i realized it was the chance .
Brooks Nielsen, Matt Taylor, Scott Montoya, Brian Stewart, Kyle Straka, Warren Thomas, Elvis, el Diablo, Elvira, Machiavellie, El Pollo Loco. All these people are contained in the credits of Costa Mesa, California based band called The Growlers, although in reality the music is starring by Brooks Nielsen vocalist, guitarist Matt Taylor, bassist Scott Montoya, drummer Brian Stewart and guitarist and keyboardist Kyle Straka . They present themselves as a group of Pop and Rock, but I clearly are much more than that, the evolution of his music since 2006, when the band was formed, is really noticeable. Since, they started to release music like if they’re paid by the minute, and is enough hear a couple albums for perceive it.
Is that on discography by this group of misfits we found an dynamic collage where focuses the best from 50s rock n’ roll, surf, psycho-billy, swamp blues, carnival folk, honky tonk, and classic garage on a cavalcade of jangly guitar twang, haunting, ghostly vocals, shuffling beats, reverb-drenched like a killer wave that stay on ears for days.
In terms of maintaining a prolific pace , their first release on 2007 was a sort of debut album with 25-song recorded cheekily called Greatest Hits, and subsequently from september 2008 to april 2009 releasing multiple volumes of their Couples EP-single-mini-album series, each with two to seven songs on them. All this followed by the awesome records that already i shared short time ago here
A little quirky but with a lot talented, the Growlers are a band that we must always watch out for on any time that we need some good tunes….
