At The Third Man Records .
Saludos…
THE RAGE says Castle Storm is “the essence of a highwire live performance made by two guys who were obviously frayed but not frazzled. Castle Storm is far more representative of Jeff’s chaotic live shows, which usually consist of the two brothers tearing each song limb from limb, using punk rock chops and monster metal riffs while baiting the crowd and always teetering on total collapse….
Throughout the frenetic collection of songs on Castle Storm the brothers ride that same line between pretentious and profound, and they ride it so hard and so fast that they never look back to see which it was.
In honor of National Record Store Day, April 17th, we are putting 10 copies of the ALREADY SOLD OUT U.K. single, “U Got The Look/The Tropics” by JEFF The Brotherhood, up for sale on our web store. These are on super thick white vinyl and just look beautiful. First come first serve! Don’t miss out!

The Beets – Spit On The Face Of People Who Don’t Want To Be Cool
The Kills – Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart – are back with a new studio album, ‘Blood Pressures’, the highly anticipated follow-up to their critically acclaimed third album, Midnight Boom.
‘Blood Pressures’ finds The Kills with their swagger and sass intact, but with a new thoughtfulness and depth – even a tinge of wistfulness and vulnerability – to their always compelling songwriting. As one of the most vital, striking bands recording today, The Kills’ vividly unique “rock” is at once effortless, edgy and timeless.
For the sessions that became ‘Blood Pressures’, Jamie and Alison returned to Key Club Studios in Michigan where they reunited with ‘Midnight Boom’ engineers Bill Skibbe and Jessica Ruffins. Produced by Jamie Hince, the album was mixed in London by Tom Elmhirst.
With their basic sound intact – searing guitars, driving rhythms and sexually charged lyrical savvy – the 11 tracks on ‘Blood Pressures’ find The Kills embracing a fuller sound and becoming more adventurous in the studio, while the lyrics are honest, heartfelt and sometimes just plain heartbreaking. Departing from the sparse, angular sound of ‘Midnight Boom’, the duo explores complex textures on ‘Blood Pressures’. There is heavier instrumentation and layered, huge-sounding harmonies. Alison and Jamie play all the instruments on the album, including piano and mellotron.
All pre-orders will receive an MP3 download of ‘Satellite’ upon purchase.
Blood Pressures will be released in the UK on April 4th 2011.

It’s a super-packed issue, so let’s cut to the chase. Firstly, we give our verdict on the Beady Eye album and speak to Liam and the boys about the making of it. Who’s more into it? Them or us?
Then there’s the small matter of Radiohead’s surprise album at the weekend. Here you can read our definitive review of ‘The Kings of Limbs’ and find out about the making of this opinion-splitting album.
Want a freebie? Oh, OK then. Inside there’s also a 16 page free magazine on the greatest frontmen of all time. We count down the Top 25 and speak to the likes of John Lydon, Bobby Gillespie and Iggy Pop about what it takes to be up front with nothing but a microphone and large penis to protect you. Don’t miss this.
Aside from this we have interviews with a resurgent Beth Ditto, a defiant My Chemical Romance and a dapper Noah and the Whale. And Christ, we also join Crystal Castles, Magnetic Man, Everything Everything and The Vaccines on the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour 2011, and find a tale of broken limbs, hard partying and everyone being scared of Alice Glass.
Plus there’s album reviews, live reviews, the gig guide and much more.
Buy this issue and be the envy of future generations, particularly the ones who’ve been fucked up by nuclear fall-out.

.Do you remember a band having the pre- album buzz that The Vaccines have? It has been a long time since a and has grown so quickly into developing a cult following and headlining clubs in L.A.

Wankered rock stars, supermodels given gas, bloodied ballerinas, broken tables, urination on carpets…it was carnage at this year’s Shockwaves NME Awards, and in this issue we show you it all. Muse, PJ Harvey, My Chemical Romance, Foals, Crystal Castles, John Lydon and Bobby Gillespie all gathered to pick up awards and get trollied, and well, some succeeded at both more than others…
But the Big Man on the night was Dave Grohl, who accepted our Godlike Genius award and played a mammoth 2 hour set on the night to a blown-away the O2 Academy Brixton. Full interview with him, and many many more at the event…
Other than awards stuff, we have an interview with Julian Casablancas, who guides us track by track through the new Strokes album:
Plus we review the much-hyped new Noah and the Whale album, and catch Mumford & Sons, Warpaint, Carl Barat, and Frankie and the Heartstrings live..
If you like rock n roll scrapes then don’t miss this issue. Do get tested for STD’s regularly though…

respira Rock And Roll.
