Well, the weekend nears the end and a new post exists, thing what lately , is a miracle I’m sure you’ll agree, although I’m sure a large proportion of people that visit this blog have discovered the existence of this band already.
A couple of years ago, when I started on wearethelastbeatniks and we didn’t know each other all that well, I invited you to an out Australian psych party in the form of Dolly Rocker Movement´s third album Our Days Mind The Tyme. But if you didn´t come that party , for whatever be , lucky for us , they have another kick ass Aussie psychfest with a new 7″ Your Side Of Town.
The Dolly Rocker Movement hail from Australia, ( Sidney to be exact,) and straddled on the line between ’60s Garage Rock and the Psychedelic scene that was developing at these years.
Since 2006, year when released their first album A Purple Journey Into The Mod Machine through Off The Hip Records, this fascination with rough Garage sounds and psych landscapes remained unscathed through these seven years, although there has been a little quiet around , when their frontman Dandy Lyon aka Daniel Darling aka Daniel Poultier decided started a new band called Kill City Creeps on 2011 .
Musically The Dolly Rocker Movement have quite a bit in common with another known proto-psych garage band of some thousand miles away from them , Brian Jonestown Massacre .
Dolly Rocker Movement is pure garage rocking bliss from fore and aft with psychedelic interludes that never really develop into anything. So , here I drop all their biscuits, so there is no reason to miss this new party…
